Back by popular demand. Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel has unveiled a
new version of the famed $1 Million Display that, over the last five
decades, has brought millions of visitors for a chance to pose with $1
million. “The million-dollar display is a major component of the
Binion’s legacy and a piece of Las Vegas history remembered and loved by
locals and visitors alike. Reintroducing the display with a modern look
is part of our strategy to preserve tradition. Binion’s new $1 Million
Display holds exactly one million dollars and is structured in a pyramid
design of acrylic glass boxes filled with cash denominations ranging
from ones to one hundred dollar bills. The display is set up on a poker
table. The $1 Million Display is open from 10a to 10p daily. Photo
subjects must be 21 or older. |

A quick reminder, the Eastside Cannery opens this week. The new $250
million Eastside Cannery is expected to open at 8p Thursday, August 28,
just in time for the Labor Day weekend crowd. For those who may not
remember, the Eastside Cannery was the old Nevada Palace which closed on
February 29. Best of luck and welcome another new casino on the horizon
of Las Vegas. The opening will also celebrate the first new casino
on Boulder Highway in the past 14 years. Boulder Station casino was the
last in 1994.

“Listen To My Heart” Benefit Concert on September 6, 2008. A group of
Las Vegas Performers from shows on the LV Strip (past & present) is
coming together to sing a special, one-day concert to help homeless
families in Las Vegas. “Listen To My Heart: The Songs of David Friedman”
will be performed. This concert will benefit the programs of Family
Promise Of Las Vegas, helping homeless families get off the street &
back into homes. “Listen To My Heart” will be performed on Saturday,
September 6, 2008 at 2p, at the Community Lutheran Church. Admission is
$30 per person. (100% of the ticket price will go directly to Family
Promise of Las Vegas). |

Galaxy Neonopolis Theatres and Las Vegas filmmaker Robert Cochrane to
host a week-long screening of the award-winning, feature-length
documentary, “Boys of Summer.” The film will screen six times daily
beginning Saturday, September 6 through Thursday, September 11 to raise
funds and awareness for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s
Research. “Boys of Summer” follows Robert Cochrane and his father Dan
Cochran, who has Parkinson’s disease, in their two-month, 20,000 mile
road trip across the country to visit each of the 30 Major League
ballparks. Nearly five million people worldwide are living with
Parkinson’s disease. There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease. The
Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research is dedicated to
ensuring the development of a cure for Parkinson’s disease within this
lifetime through an aggressively funded research agenda. |

Free Movies. . . Mandalay Bay Beach is inviting Las Vegas tourists and
locals alike to grab a beach towel, don their flip-flops and dive into a
free movie. Throughout September, guests 21 years of age and older will
be able to watch classic movies while floating in Mandalay Bay’s wave
pool, lounging beach side on real sand or playing volleyball and ping
pong. Here’s a look at what will be playing: Sept. 5 - Old School, Sept.
12 - Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sept. 19 - Pulp Fiction, Sept. 26 -
American Pie. Gates will open at 8p and show time is 9p. All scheduled
movies are rated R for adult material. |

It’s all about the ladies every Monday at Mandalay Bay as miX in Las
Vegas presents “Girls on Top.” Beginning August 25 miX in Las Vegas will

This week another nightclub opened in Las Vegas, LAVO, inside the
Palazzo Casino. A 4500 square foot nightclub with 40 bottle service
tables and state-of-the-art audio visual systems. LAVO opens six nights
a week from 10p to 5a. This is a sister club to the famous Tao nightclub
which is located next door insider the Venetian Casino. It also has a
300-seat restaurant. |

To commence the 10th anniversary season, the Las Vegas Philharmonic will
host the Masterworks Series Gala and Masterworks I concert, welcoming
legendary pianist Misha Dichter. Dichter’s repertoire will include the
ever-popular piano concerto in A minor by Edvard Grieg. Also programmed
for the evening is Maurice Ravel’s one-movement “Boléro,” and Dvorák’s
Symphony No. 7, conducted by Philharmonic Musical Director David Itkin.
The event to be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008, 5:30p - Reception
catered by Chef Gustav Mauler,
7:15p - Pre-concert lecture with Music Director David Itkin, 8p -
Masterworks I concert with Misha Dichter at the Artemus W. Ham Concert

Prices range from $25 to $75. Gala reception is $150 per person in
addition to concert prices and includes VIP reception catered by Chef

year started today, August 25. (Las Vegas resides within Clark County.)
More than 314,000 students attended the 347 schools which have 20,000
teachers. Clark County’s school district is the fifth largest in the
United States.
